Dizziness (Spanish: Vértigo) is a 1946 Mexican drama film directed by Antonio Momplet. It stars María Félix, Emilio Tuero, and Lilia Michel, and is based on the 1926 novel Alberte by Pierre Benoit.

Plot
Mercedes Mallea, who married very young and was widowed early, lives alone on her ranch. Her daughter Gabriela returns from studying abroad with her fiancé Arturo. A deep attraction grows between Mercedes and Arturo, creating a dangerous love triangle. Mercedes tries to resist for her daughter’s sake, but the situation ends in tragedy.

Reception
The film won the 1947 Ariel Award for Best Supporting Actress (Lilia Michel) and Best Special Effects. It was also nominated for Best Actress in a Minor Role (Emma Roldán), Best Production Design, and Best Costume Design.

Trivia
María Félix later said in her memoir that the script was originally written for Dolores del Río, but a messenger’s mistake brought it to Félix.
