Paul Coll
Paul Daniel Coll ONZM (born 9 May 1992 in Greymouth, New Zealand) is a professional squash player from New Zealand. He turned pro in 2010, plays right-handed, and trains under coach Rob Owen. He stands about 1.79 m tall and weighs around 83 kg.
In March 2022, Coll became the first New Zealand man to reach world No. 1 in men’s squash. He rose to prominence after a late breakthrough year, including winning the St George’s Hill Classic as a qualifier, which helped him climb into the top 20. He has won the British Open twice (2021 and 2022) and earned a silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, followed by a gold medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the men’s singles. Other notable titles include the Open de France Nantes in 2019 and the Windy City Open in 2021, plus a bronze at the 2022 PSA World Championships.
Coll was honored as an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2023 for services to squash. He won the United States Open in 2023 and married Belgian squash player Nele Gilis in July 2024. In 2025, he reached the semi-finals of both the World Championship and the British Open, and he captured the London Classic, marking his 28th PSA title. As of 4 August 2025, his world ranking is No. 3, and he remains an active player for New Zealand.
