The Beck Family was a Philadelphia disco-funk group from the 1970s. They grew out of The Beck Brothers gospel group, started by their father, Elder Charles Beck, and their mother, Bertha Beck, with their grandmother Anna Shepherd noted as a gospel singer.

The group included three Beck brothers—Anthony (Tony), Menelick (Mendy), and Tyrone—plus their sister Joanna and cousins Nick Mundy and Donald Wilson. They began releasing music on the Art and LeJoint labels, with an early track in 1976 and the album Dancin’ on the Ceiling in 1979.

Their hit single “Can’t Shake the Feeling” helped put them on the national disco scene. The song charted on US R&B and disco lists and also reached Canada, where it appeared on the RPM Disco chart. The album received positive reviews and appeared on the Billboard Soul LPs chart. UK and European interest followed, with a 12" release in the UK.

The Beck Family performed across the East Coast and in New York clubs, and they appeared on TV and at disco events with other artists of the era. Phyllis Hyman contributed backing vocals on the album. The group’s cousin Nick Mundy later had a chart hit with “Ain’t It All Right” in 1984 and worked with artists such as Sheena Easton and Sister Sledge.
