Terrible Things (album)
Terrible Things is the debut studio album by the alternative rock band Terrible Things. It was released on August 31, 2010, by Universal Motown and recorded in Birmingham, Alabama, with Jason Elgin producing. The lineup features Fred Mascherino (former Taking Back Sunday and The Color Fred), Andy Jackson (Hot Rod Circuit), and Josh Eppard (Coheed and Cambria). Jacob Bunton of Lynam played bass and piano because the band did not have a permanent bassist at the time.
Before the album came out, the track “Revolution” streamed on Myspace on April 26, 2010 and was released as a single on May 25. Two other songs were streamed ahead of the album: “Wrap Me Up” and “Lullaby.” The band had previously considered the name “Initials” before settling on Terrible Things for both the band and the album. The cover art shows Mascherino’s two children at a tea party with a dollhouse on fire in the background, which he said referenced arson incidents in Coatesville.
To promote the release, Terrible Things toured the Warped Tour in July–August 2010, then did a US tour in October–November with Mae and Windsor Drive. A music video for “Revolution,” directed by David Brodsky, premiered on November 19, 2010. In late 2011, the band also toured Australia as part of the Soundwave Counter-Revolution festival. All tracks were written by Fred Mascherino and Andy Jackson, except where noted.
