THC hemisuccinate (also called Δ9-THC-O-hemisuccinate or dronabinol hemisuccinate) is a synthetic derivative of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). It is a water-soluble prodrug ester designed to be converted into THC inside the body. Developed in the 1990s, it was mainly used in medicine as rectal suppositories to improve THC delivery when non-inhaled administration is used.
