TAS2R12P, or taste receptor type 2 member 12 pseudogene, is the human pseudogene version of the bitter taste receptor gene TAS2R12. As a pseudogene, it looks like the normal TAS2R12 gene but has changes that prevent it from producing a functional protein. It belongs to the taste receptor type 2 (T2R) family, which detects bitter compounds, but TAS2R12P itself does not encode a working receptor.
