T11 (satellite)
T11 (DirecTV-11) is a Boeing 702 communications satellite built for DirecTV. Its current name, T11, was adopted in 2017. It sits in geostationary orbit at about 99.2° West, near SPACEWAY-2, with a transponder capacity of 500 MHz. It launched on March 19, 2008, aboard a Sea Launch Zenit-3SL rocket from Odyssey after a prior launch failure caused a delay. DirecTV took control on July 21, 2008 and stationed it near 99.225°W.
T11 began broadcasting High-Definition channels on July 31, 2008, starting with MPEG-4 HD versions of existing MPEG-2 channels and a few east coast networks. Since then, DirecTV has added more than 40 HD channels, giving T11 more than 50 HD channels. Overall, DirecTV now offers more than 130 HD channels.
