Stylidium fluminense

Stylidium fluminense is a small flowering plant native to northwestern Australia. It grows as an erect annual plant about 15–30 cm tall. The leaves are elliptic and scattered along the stem, with about 10–40 leaves per plant. Each leaf is 5–19 mm long and 1.5–6 mm wide.

The plant does not have a long stalk; instead, its flower clusters (cymes) are 5–11 cm long. Flowers come in pink, mauve, or red.

Where it’s found: In sheltered, moist sandstone gorges in northwestern Australia, with confirmed locations in the Hamersley Ranges and near the Harding River by Karratha.

When it flowers: June to October (Southern Hemisphere).

Relationship: Its closest relative is Stylidium alsinoides.

Conservation: We don’t have enough data to determine its conservation status.
