Struttin' (Louis Armstrong album)
Struttin' is an album by Louis Armstrong with Edmond Hall's All Stars. It was recorded at Carnegie Hall in New York City on February 8, 1947, during a live concert, but was released much later on March 19, 1996. The group features Edmond Hall (clarinet), Louis Armstrong (trumpet), Mousie Randolph (trumpet), Henderson Chambers (trombone), Ellis Larkins (piano), Johnny Williams (bass), and Jimmy Crawford (drums). This was Armstrong's first major appearance with a small group in nearly twenty years, and the performance helped inspire him to dissolve his big band later in 1947 and form his own All-Stars, who would adopt many of these songs. A reviewer notes that the sound quality is somewhat primitive, but the historical importance of the performances remains strong.
