Strictly for Mothers
Strictly for Mothers was an Australian daytime TV show about motherhood. It aired on Melbourne’s HSV-7 station in 1959. Each episode was 30 minutes long and the program ran on Mondays at 2:45 pm, from July 27 to October 12, 1959. The show, hosted by Jean Battersby, was aimed at mothers and expectant mothers.
After it ended, HSV-7 moved the schedule to Snakes and Ladders, a short-lived game show.
Battersby also hosted other HSV-7 daytime programs in the 1950s, including What’s On (on Wednesdays during the same period), Movie Guide (Fridays from August 29, 1958 to July 24, 1959), and Personal Column (1958–1959). It was common for HSV-7 personalities to host several shows at once; for example, in 1956 Eric Pearce hosted Ive Got a Secret (1956–1958), co-hosted Eric and Mary, was a newsreader, and in early 1957 began hosting Be My Guest.
