Stony Hill Cemetery
Stony Hill Cemetery, also known as the Cemetery of the Asbury Colored Peoples Church, is a historic African American burial ground in Harrison, Westchester County, New York. The 6.5-acre site was established around 1800 and contains about 200 graves, including seven carved stones, four of them government markers. The property also includes the site of a former church that was demolished before 1930.
The cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. In 2004, it became part of the African American Heritage Trail of Westchester County, a group of 14 sites that includes Rye African-American Cemetery, Villa Lewaro, and the Jay Estate.
Records show 36 veterans are buried here: 16 from the 29th Connecticut Colored Infantry Regiment, 14 from the 11th United States Colored Heavy Artillery Regiment, 5 from the 20th United States Colored Infantry Regiment, and 1 from the Navy.
