Stephen Booth (cricketer)
Stephen Charles Booth was born on 30 October 1963 in Cross Gates, Leeds, England. He is a former cricketer who played for Somerset from 1983 to 1985. Booth was a right-handed batsman and a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. He attended Boston Spa Comprehensive School.
He made his first-class debut for Somerset on 27 July 1983 against Northamptonshire and played his last first-class match on 24 July 1985 against Warwickshire. In 33 first-class games, he took 87 wickets at an average of 36.31, with his best figures of 4 for 26. He scored 202 runs, with a top score of 42, at an average of 10.63. He also took 33 catches.
Booth was part of a Somerset team that included stars like Joel Garner and Viv Richards. Peter Roebuck nicknamed him “Heathcliff” in his diary.
