Fish Island Site
Fish Island Site is a historic place in St. Johns County, Florida, just south of St. Augustine, on the Matanzas River. It was one of Florida’s first fruit plantations, started by Jesse Fish from New York, who bought the land in 1763. The plantation grew oranges, figs, peaches, pomegranates, and limes. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on June 13, 1972 (NRHP reference number 72001460).
