SroB RNA

Content sourced from Wikipedia, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

SroB RNA (also known as MicM, rybC, or ChiX) is a short non-coding RNA about 90 nucleotides long. It is found in several Enterobacterales species, but its exact function is not fully known. The gene sits in an intergenic region on the opposite strand from ybaK and ybaP. SroB is produced during stationary phase and binds the Hfq protein. It can regulate the outer membrane protein YbfM by pairing with ybfM mRNA and blocking its ribosome binding site. SroB also influences the DpiA/DpiB two-component system. Additionally, a non-coding transcript from the chbBC region appears to target SroB.
