Spring Fever is a 2009 drama directed by Lou Ye. It is a Hong Kong–French co-production made in defiance of a Chinese ban on Lou Ye after his previous film, Summer Palace. Filmed in Nanjing, the movie follows a web of love and longing among Lin Xue, her husband Wang Ping, and their partners Luo Haitao, Jiang Cheng (a gay man), and Li Jing. Lin suspects Wang of cheating and hires Luo to follow him; Wang has an affair with Jiang. The story explores jealousy, deception, and a love triangle that becomes tangled and painful. After Wang commits suicide, Li helps a boss, and the relationships become even more complicated. Li tries to share Luo with Jiang, but the relationships fall apart—Li leaves, Luo and Jiang break up, and Jiang starts a new relationship with another man.

Spring Fever premiered at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival on May 13, 2009, and was screened without official approval in China. The film runs 116 minutes and is in Mandarin. Critics noted its length and European sensibilities, but Mei Feng won Cannes Best Screenplay for the script.
