Southern High School is a public high school in Harwood, Maryland, part of Anne Arundel County Public Schools. The current campus opened in 1968, and the school serves grades 9–12. It sits in a rural fringe area. The mascot is the Bulldog, and the school colors are blue and gold. The principal is Angela Hopkins, and about 1,063 students attended in fall 2016.

Southern High is known for strong academics and athletics. It earned Maryland’s Blue Ribbon in 2008 and the National Blue Ribbon in 2009, becoming one of two Anne Arundel County high schools to win both awards (the other is Severna Park High School). In sports, the lacrosse team won the 2A State Championship with a 20–7 victory, tying the Maryland record for most goals in a state final. The school also runs a unified sports program to encourage inclusion.

Academically, Southern offers 26 AP courses, more than the state average of 18 and close to the county average of 25. In 2019, U.S. News ranked Southern among the top 25 high schools in the Baltimore metro area.

History notes: The school’s roots go back to 1920 with a grammar and secondary school in Tracys Landing. A new Southern High School building was constructed in Lothian in 1933, with expansions in the late 1940s and early 1950s that increased enrollment to about 300. The Bulldog mascot was adopted in 1952.
