ISO 3166-2:TL defines the codes for Timor-Leste’s main regions in the ISO 3166 standard. It currently covers 12 municipalities and one special administrative region. Each code has two parts: TL, the country’s ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code, and a two-letter suffix (for example TL-XX).

Before Timor-Leste gained independence in 2002, the country used the ISO 3166-1 code TP, and it was listed as ID-TT under Indonesia’s entry in ISO 3166-2.

Subdivision names follow the official ISO 3166-2 publication by the ISO 3166 Maintenance Agency and are shown in the administrative languages using ISO 639-1 and ISO 639-2 language codes.

Since the first publication of ISO 3166-2 in 1998, changes to this entry have been announced by the ISO 3166/MA. The organization stopped issuing newsletters in 2013.
