Greatest Hits: From the Beginning (The Miracles album)
Greatest Hits from the Beginning is a Miracles compilation double LP released on March 22, 1965. It was Motown’s first double album (Tamla TS2-254). The collection covers most of the group’s pre-1965 hits from albums like Shop Around, Who’s Lovin’ You, You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me, and Mickey’s Monkey, plus the 1964 non‑album singles I Like It Like That and That’s What Love Is Made Of (with its B‑side Would I Love You). It also includes the Miracles’ early non‑Motown singles Got A Job and I Cry (from End, 1958) and Bad Girl and I Need a Change (on Chess, 1959), with their B‑sides. Bad Girl was reissued by Motown the same year. This is not a complete pre‑1960 singles collection, as It and its B‑side Don’t Say Bye Bye are left out, along with other early charting songs like Broken Hearted, Ain’t It Baby, Mighty Good Lovin’, (You Can’t Let the Boy Overpower) The Man in You, Come On Do The Jerk, and Everybody’s Gotta Pay Some Dues. The album reached #21 on the Billboard Pop Album chart and #2 on the Billboard R&B Album chart. It was released on CD in 1991 but is now out of print.
