Someone New (album)
Someone New is the first full-length studio album by Canadian art pop musician Helena Deland. It was released on October 16, 2020, runs 47 minutes and 51 seconds, and is in English. The album was produced by Valentin Ignat and released on the Chivi Chivi and Luminelle labels. Deland has said she wanted to create a central character in the songs rather than have women in films simply described by others.

Clash rated it 8/10 for its woozy guitars, catchy synths, and melodies. Exclaim! gave it 9/10 and named it the 39th best album of 2020, highlighting evocative lyrics and melancholic guitar. The Line of Best Fit named it Album of the Week with 9.5/10. Loud and Quiet scored it 8/10. Pitchfork offered 7.9/10, admiring the album’s digital glow despite its dark mood. PopMatters gave 7/10, calling the songwriting ambitious, though with some moments of lacking gravity.
