Sofia Boutella
Sofia Boutella (born 3 April 1982) is an Algerian‑French actress, dancer and model. She was born in Bab El Oued, Algiers, Algeria, and moved to Paris at age 10. She started classical dance early and later joined the French rhythmic gymnastics team at 18. As a dancer, she worked with Madonna for six years, appearing in music videos and at the Super Bowl.
Boutella began acting in StreetDance 2 (2012), playing Eva. She then starred in Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014), Star Trek Beyond (2016) and Atomic Blonde (2017). In 2017 she played the title character in The Mummy, which raised her profile as an action star. She also appeared in Climax (2019), Hotel Artemis (2018) and Fahrenheit 451 (2018). In 2023–2024, she appears in Rebel Moon, a Netflix sci‑fi project directed by Zack Snyder.
Her father is Safy Boutella, a jazz musician, and her mother was an architect. Her brother Seif works in visual effects. She studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Boutella keeps strong ties to Algeria, saying she is Algerian at heart but also worldly. She dated Irish actor Robert Sheehan from 2014 to 2018.
