Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 1998
Slovenia selected its entry through Evrovizijska Melodija 1998 (EMA 1998), held on 28 February 1998 in Ljubljana. Fourteen acts competed and the public voted for the winner: "Naj bogovi slišijo" performed by Vili Resnik. The song was composed by Matjaž Vlašič with lyrics by Urša Vlašič.
The Eurovision Song Contest took place on 9 May 1998. Slovenia performed 12th, after Hungary and before Ireland, with Mojmir Sepe as conductor. Slovenia finished 18th with 17 points.
Slovenia’s Eurovision history: since its first entry in 1993, its best result was 7th place in 1995 with Darja Švajger’s "Prisluhni mi"; in 1997 it placed 10th with Tanja Ribič’s "Zbudi".
In the contest, Slovenia awarded its 12 points to Croatia.
