Skłodowska-Curie District
Skłodowskiej-Curie District is a central district of Zabrze, Poland. It covers about 1.9 square kilometers (around 0.7 square miles) and was created in late 2021 from part of the Centrum Północ District. The district is named after Maria Curie-Skłodowska. It borders Osiedle Mikołaja Kopernika and Mikulczyce to the north, Zandka and Śródmieście to the south, Biskupice to the east, and Osiedle Tadeusza Kotarbińskiego to the west. The northern boundary runs along Aleja Jana Nowaja-Jeziorańskiego and Przystankowa Street; the eastern boundary along Bronisław Hager Street; the southern boundary follows the Bytomka river, Park Hutniczy, Mikulczycka Street and Mieczysław Niedziałkowski Street; and the western boundary along Wojciech Korfanty Street. The district held its first elections on March 20, 2022, electing 15 councilors from 28 candidates. The district council is based at 38A Jagiellońska Street. Public transport in the district includes buses and trams, operated by Zarząd Transportu Metropolitalnego since January 1, 2019.
