Ship Ahoy Tavern is a cozy dive bar on Gladstone Street in Portland’s Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood. Opened in the 1940s and once owned by the Moles family, it’s known for its nautical theme, with lighthouses, ship models, and a laid-back, neighborhood vibe.

Inside you’ll find a card table, knickknacks, pinball, a billiard table, and several TVs. The bar offers beer and cider and snacks like pizza and pretzels. There’s a patio for outdoor seating, and patrons are welcome to bring food from nearby restaurants.

Ship Ahoy has hosted pop-up food carts over the years, including MidCity SmashedBurger, and at one point featured the Thai cart Chop Chop PDX in front of the bar. In 2023, MidCity SmashedBurger announced plans to start a food cart at the venue.

The bar draws a mix of regulars, neighborhood locals, and students, and has been described as quintessentially Portland: quirky, friendly, and a good spot to relax after work or on the weekend. It has faced a few notable incidents, such as a burglary in 2008 and a U-Haul crash into the building in 2023, but remains a staple of the area’s bar scene.
