Secrets of Investigation
Secrets of Investigation
Secrets of Investigation is a long-running Russian crime detective TV series that began in 2000 and is still on. Each season includes several story arcs, usually 2–4 episodes long, with episodes about 50 minutes.
The show follows Chief Detective Maria Shvetsova of the Saint Petersburg District Investigative Committee as she and her team solve difficult crimes. Maria, played by Anna Kovalchuk, is sharp, brave, and often goes to crime scenes herself, using her intuition to find clues others miss. Her colleagues include seasoned detectives Vladimir Vinokurov and Fedor Kurochkin. At times she clashes with her boss, Nikolai Filonov, who is more focused on his career.
Other team members appear over time, including Lyudmila Kolinskaya and new investigator Boris Shipov. Maria’s personal life is important to the story—her husband Dmitry Luganskiy and daughter Zlata stand by her as she works to uncover the truth.
The cases range from murders involving powerful people to puzzling deaths that require careful interviewing and forensic work. Maria’s determination often reveals the real criminals and helps prevent new crimes.
Production notes: the series has multiple production partners and has produced hundreds of episodes across many seasons. In 2018, filming began for the 18th season, and a spin-off/prequel called Last Century was announced.
