Scriptures (band)
Scriptures is an instrumental music collective based in Seattle, Washington. They create ambient and post-rock sounds with layered melodies and shifting tones, sometimes incorporating metal and psychedelic textures. The group performs with instruments like bass, guitar, drums, keyboards, and samples.
They began in spring 2003 in Missoula, Montana under the name This Is a Process of a Still Life, with members Jason Ward (bass), David Totten (guitar/keyboards), Scott Kennedy (guitar/keyboards), Baine Craft (percussion), and Jeff Forrest (guitar/keyboards). Over time, others joined, including Ben Rouner, Grier Phillips, Gary Jimmerson, Burke Jam, and Bob Martin.
In fall 2003 they started recording their first album in Portland. Their follow-up, Light, was recorded in 2005 in Missoula. In 2006 the band moved to Seattle. In 2009 they officially changed their name to Scriptures. They have toured the West Coast and shared stages with acts such as Xiu Xiu, Maserati, Tara Jane O’Neil, Cex, The Drift, Early Day Miners, Nice Nice, Earth, Cloud Cult, Pontiak, Pallbearer, and Bell Witch.
They have released music on The Lanthanide Series, Transligustic, and Firefly Sessions. Current members are David Totten, Baine Craft, John Herman, Tyler Venture, and Caleb Williams. Past members include Casey Alexander, Jeff Forest, Jason Ward, Burke Jam, Scott Kennedy, Ben Rouner, Grier Phillips, Gary Jimmerson, and Bob Martin.
