Scottish League Two
Scottish League Two: a quick guide
- What it is: The fourth tier of Scotland’s professional football league system (SPFL).
- Where it sits: 10 clubs compete in this level.
- When it started: Founded in 2013 after the SPFL was formed.
- Sponsorship name: Also known as the William Hill League Two.
- Current season and champions: The 2025–26 season is underway. Peterhead are the current champions (their 3rd title) as of 2024–25.
- Most titles: Peterhead (3).
- Promotion and relegation:
- The league champion is promoted to Scottish League One, swapping places with the bottom team in League One.
- Teams finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th in League Two, plus the 9th-placed team in League One, enter a two-legged playoff to decide promotion/relegation between League One and League Two.
- The bottom team in League Two faces a two-legged playoff against the Highland League or Lowland League champions. If the League Two team wins, they stay in League Two; if the Highland/Lowland champion wins, they are promoted to League Two and the League Two team is relegated to their chosen regional league.
- How matches are decided: 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss. Teams are ranked by points, then goal difference, then goals scored; if still tied, a playoff may be played to determine final placings.
- Where to watch: Games are broadcast by BBC Alba.
