Scoop (British TV series)
Scoop is a British children's comedy series that aired on CBBC from January 5, 2009, to August 10, 2011. The show stars Shaun Williamson as Digby Digworth, an ambitious but bumbling journalist for the small-town newspaper The Pilbury Post. In each episode, Digby tries to land a big scoop, but his clumsy efforts often lead to chaos and mayhem instead. He is helped by Hacker, his loyal dog, and together they chase stories that rarely go as planned.
The main team includes Mark Benton as Max de Lacey, the short-tempered editor who keeps Digby in line, and the enigmatic Sid the Source, who Digby turns to for help when needed. There are also guest appearances from popular TV actors, including Lesley Joseph and Mina Anwar as rival reporter Selena Sharp. The show even features parodies of real figures, such as a spoof of JK Rowling named T. K. Towling and a spoof of Jeremy Clarkson named Clark Jameson.
Each episode runs about 28 minutes. The opening and ending songs are both titled Got to Get that Scoop! The series is known for its recurring jokes, simple setups, and light-hearted humor. Hacker the dog is a puppet whose control and performance were handled by different puppeteers across the series (Andy Heath in Series 1 and Phil Fletcher in Series 2–3). The show consists of three series with a total of 39 episodes.
Scoop blends silly adventures with a familiar newsroom premise, offering colourful escapades such as investigating unusual mysteries, competing with rivals, and portraying everyday life in a playful, kid-friendly way.
