Scleropyrenium is a small genus of squamulose lichens in the family Verrucariaceae. It has two species: Scleropyrenium japonicum and Scleropyrenium kurokawae. The genus was established in 1993 by Japanese lichenologist Hiroshi Harada, with S. japonicum as the type species. Key features include a dark brown to almost black exciple (the rim around the hymenium), Staurothele-type pycnidia, and a thick upper cortex (pachydermatous).
