Schütte-Lanz D.I
Schütte-Lanz D.I was a German single-seat biplane fighter from 1915. Built by Schütte-Lanz for the Luftstreitkräfte and designed by Walter Stein, it was a lightweight wood-and-fabric plane, said to be based on the British Sopwith Tabloid. After testing in 1915, the D.I was rejected because the biplane design gave the pilot worse visibility than a monoplane, making it unsuitable as a fighter. Only one D.I was built, and a modified version, the Schütte-Lanz D.II, appeared later in 1915.
