Savolainen osakunta, known as SavO, is one of the 15 Finnish-speaking student nations at the University of Helsinki. It was founded on 1 October 1905 after splitting from Savo-karjalainen osakunta. Since 1931 its premises have been on the top floor of the new student house, nicknamed "Vinni." The idea of student nations comes from the University of Paris, and Savonians are first mentioned in 1653.

The nation is governed by a general meeting led by an inspector, and by a nation council headed by a curator who serves a two-year term. SavO is part of the Student Union of the University of Helsinki and collaborates with other nations through Osakuntien Yhteisvaltuuskunta. It has close ties with Karjalainen Osakunta and with neighboring groups Eteläsuomalainen and Varsinaissuomalainen in the student house. The nation participates in student politics through Osakuntalainen Unioni. It also works with Savolaisen Osakunnan Seniorit ry, the association of former members, and together they manage Savolaisten ylioppilassäätiö, which owns the nation’s apartments.

SavO has friendship agreements with student groups abroad, including Fratenitas Estica in Tartu (1930) and Indla in Estonia, and relations with Värmlands Nation in Uppsala (1951), Wermlands Nation in Lund (1956), and Linköping (2005).
