Saturn-class tugboat
Saturn class tugboats, known as Project 498 and sometimes called Proteus, are a group of ships built for harbours and roadsteads by the Soviet Union and Russia. They were built from 1962 to 1983, after which production switched to the upgraded Project 04983. These tugboats have served in both civilian and naval roles, and a number were exported to other countries.
In the Kerch Strait incident on 25 November 2018, the Ukrainian Saturn-class tugboat Yany Kapu and two Ukrainian gunboats tried to pass through the Kerch Strait. Russian vessels rammed Yany Kapu and seized the three Ukrainian boats; they were returned to Ukraine nearly a year later.
On 6 June 2024, a Saturn-class tugboat in the Russian Black Sea Fleet was sunk in Crimea by the Ukrainian military amid the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
