Sander Jan Klerk
Sander Jan Klerk (born June 19, 1982) is a Dutch actor and singer from The Hague. He grew up in Westland, Netherlands, and trained at the Actorsstudio, Theatreschool Rabarber, and the Dutch Musical Ensemble in the Netherlands and the UK.
He began acting as a teenager, with early roles on TV in shows such as Baantjer and Onderweg naar Morgen, and he had a recurring part in Het Glazen Huis. Klerk became well known for his role as Aaron Zomerkamp in the Nickelodeon series Zoop, a part he reprised in the Zoop film Zoop in Africa. The show and film won several awards, including a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award and a Golden Film.
In theatre, he played Doody in Grease, Simon Stride in Jekyll & Hyde, and Tom de Tuinman in Tita Tovenaar. He has performed at major musical events in the Netherlands, such as John Kraaijkamp Musical Awards Galas and Musicals in Ahoy. From 2008 to 2012 he appeared in international TV commercials for brands like McDonald’s, Domino’s Pizza and Starbucks, and in 2009 he performed with Lea Salonga in New York.
In 2012 he performed in Musical Classics in Ahoy and served as a backup artist for Mika on his European tour The Origin of Love. He acted in the NET 5 series Achter Gesloten Deuren as Thomas Henegouwen. In 2015 he played Bas Luster in Goede tijden, slechte tijden. He later appeared in Moordvrouw (2016) and Suspects (2018). In 2021 he played Hermann of Thuringia in the international TV drama Glow & Darkness.
