San Benito, California

San Benito is an unincorporated community in San Benito County, California. It sits about 18 miles southeast of Paicines along the San Benito River. The town had a post office from 1869 to 1968. The nearby San Benito-Bitterwater area had a population of 805 at the 2020 census. The region has warm, dry summers, with average monthly temperatures never above about 71°F. The climate is a warm-summer Mediterranean climate. The name San Benito means "St. Benedict" in Spanish.
