Samantha Edwards (singer)
Samantha Noella, also known as Samantha Edwards, is an Indian singer and vocal coach based in Mumbai. She performs Jazz, R&B, Funk, Blues and Soul and has been active since the early 1990s. She began teaching voice in 2006 and has coached many singers, including Bollywood stars like Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Hrithik Roshan. Born and raised in Bandra, Mumbai, she started singing on stage at age five and studied at Apostolic Carmel High School, St. Xavier’s College, and Bombay University. Trained in Indian classical music and the Kodály Method, she has studied voice with renowned teachers since 1996 and holds two Licentiates in Music Performance – Vocal and Music Teaching from Rockschool, UK, plus Modern Vocal Level 1. She has recorded for films and ads, leads her own band, and served as vice-president of the Cine Singers’ Association for ten years. In 1993 she joined the band Mantra, which had the song Jantar Mantar airplay on MTV and Channel V, and in 2001 formed the Jazz & Blues band Samantha Edwards With Take 4, performing at major jazz festivals. She has two children and enjoys baking; she started Sam’s Desserts & Pastries in 1997.
