Salem was a New Zealand record label that operated from the mid-1960s to the early 1970s. It was owned by Peter Caithness and co-founded with Dennis Bailey; both had previously worked for the Viking label. Based in Wellington, the label’s catalog was about 75% Polynesian music in 1968. Notable releases include Herma Keil & The Keil Isles’ Keils A-Go-Go! and the various-artist album An Evening At Tommo’s Place, featuring Bridgette Allen, Ray Woolf and Martin Kini.
