Dwight D. Eisenhower Park (San Antonio)
Dwight D. Eisenhower Park, also known as Eisenhower City Park, is a public park near San Antonio in the Texas Hill Country. It covers about 317 acres and is open year-round, managed by the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department. The land was once part of the U.S. Army’s Camp Bullis and opened to the public in 1988. It’s named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, a Texan who was an army commander at nearby Fort Sam Houston and later became President. The park is popular for hiking, with more than 5 miles of trails. It also offers picnic areas, a playground, campsites, and nature trails. Wildlife includes white-tailed deer, armadillos, raccoons, and skunks, and it’s a good spot for bird watching.
