Sagadi
Sagadi is a village in Haljala Parish, Lääne-Viru County, in northern Estonia, inside Lahemaa National Park.
Sagadi Manor, also called Saggad in German, was first mentioned in 1469. Over the centuries it belonged to several Baltic German families.
A rococo-style manor house was built there from 1749 to 1753 for the von Fock family, with master builder Johan Nicolaus Vogel. The house was rebuilt from 1793 to 1795 and given its current early classicist look. In 1894, minor changes were made by architect Rudolf von Engelhardt.
For much of the 20th century the manor housed a school. It was renovated from 1977 to 1987. The entire manor complex includes 20 outbuildings and a park and is one of the best-preserved estate ensembles in Estonia. Inside, painted ceilings and carved wooden stairs have been restored, and the main house is furnished to reflect its history.
