SS Karanja (1865)
SS Karanja (also spelled Karanjah) was a riverboat paddle steamer built in 1865 by Henderson, Coulborn & Co in Renfrew, Scotland. It was 164.0 ft long, 23.2 ft wide, and 7.9 ft deep, with a gross tonnage of 228 and a net tonnage of 166. The paddle wheels were powered by a two-cylinder steam engine rated at 90 NHP. The ship’s name appears as Karanja or Karanjah in records. It served in British India and was owned by The Bombay Coast & River Steam Navigation Co Ltd, registered in Bombay under UK official number 30637.
