Rudolf Wild
Rudolf Wild (1904–1995) was a German businessman who started WILD, a company that makes natural ingredients for food and drinks. He studied chemistry in Heidelberg, Frankfurt, and Freiburg, and in 1931 he founded his first company, Zick Zack Werk Rudolf Wild. Under his leadership, WILD grew into an international company. The company is now owned and run by his son Hans-Peter Wild. In 1979 he became the first honorary citizen of the Eppelheim district for his work for the people there, and that same year he received the Stauffer Medal, the top award in Baden-Württemberg. He also received the honorary medal from Ruprecht-Karls University Heidelberg for his long support, and became an honorary member in 1994. In 1985 the Maison Internationale des Intellectuels awarded him the title Senator h. c. In 1989, on his 85th birthday, he received the Great Cross of Merit with Star (Verdienstkreuz mit Stern) from the Baden-Württemberg minister-president, Lothar Späth—the highest German award.
