Ruby Zarriga
Ruby Zarriga is a retired civil servant from Papua New Guinea. She was born in New Hanover, New Ireland Province. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Papua New Guinea in 1987 and then joined the public service. She worked in welfare, community planning, and training. In 2004 she received an Australian Development Scholarship and studied at the Australian National University in 2005–2006. She completed a master's in management and returned to Papua New Guinea to work in the Department of National Planning and Monitoring, where she became First Assistant Secretary of the Sectoral Planning and Programming Division. In September 2011 she was arrested and charged with conspiracy to defraud the State over a K10 million grant paid to a Kokopo businessman to set up an airline, while she was acting secretary. She retired in 2021 after 32 years in the department. She was married to Reverend Megghen Zarriga, who was shot and killed in 2002, and they had two daughters.
