Ross Whiteley
Ross Andrew Whiteley (born 13 September 1988 in Sheffield) is an English cricketer who bats left-handed and bowls left-arm medium pace. He began with Derbyshire’s Second XI in 2006 and made his professional debuts for Derbyshire in List A and first-class cricket in 2008. He helped Derbyshire win promotion to Division 1 in 2012.
In 2013 he moved to Worcestershire, where he spent several seasons and produced memorable moments, including 91 not out off 36 balls with 11 sixes in a 2015 T20 Blast match and six sixes in an over against Yorkshire in 2017. He was part of the Worcestershire Rapids that won the T20 Blast in 2018. In 2021 he signed for Hampshire on a three-year contract after impressing for Southern Brave in The Hundred, and he also played for Southern Brave in The Hundred in 2022.
Whiteley has turned out for several T20 franchises around the world, including Sylhet Sixers, Multan Sultans, Brisbane Heat, Oval Invincibles, Welsh Fire and Trent Rockets. In 2023 he returned to Derbyshire on a two-year deal, and in October 2025 it was announced he would stay with Derbyshire through 2026 after reaching the required appearances.
His older brother, Adam Whiteley, also played for Derbyshire’s Second XI.
