Roseville Area High School
Roseville Area High School (RAHS) is a public high school in Roseville, Minnesota. It serves Roseville and nearby communities: Arden Hills, Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada, Maplewood, and Shoreview. It is the only comprehensive high school in Roseville Area School District 623.
RAHS opened on the site of the former Alexander Ramsey High School. In 1986, Ramsey High School and Frank B. Kellogg High School merged because enrollment was falling. The new school used Ramsey’s facilities, while Kellogg became Roseville Area Middle School. Plans to build a brand-new high school near Lake Owasso were not approved, so RAHS was expanded and remodeled instead. The district sold land to finance the project, and the area built on that land is now Owasso Hills.
In its early years, RAHS operated on two campuses: East Campus (Kellogg site) and West Campus (Ramsey site). From 1987 to 1997, the school served 10th–12th graders, with 9th grade at the middle school. After construction finished in 1997, 9th grade moved to RAHS. Beginning in 2019, the building underwent renovations and the addition of a new E Wing, with most work completed by 2021.
Academically, RAHS uses a trimester system and lets students earn up to five credits per trimester. The school offers AP, CIS (College in the Schools), Honors, Connections, and standard tracks. There are pre-AP courses for 9th and 10th grades. A 2007 grant helped expand AP and pre-AP programs in the district. RAHS participates in the University of Minnesota’s College in the Schools program, allowing students to earn college credit while staying in high school. In addition, eligible upperclassmen may take postsecondary courses at partner institutions such as Century College, Macalester College, and the University of Minnesota at no cost. Credits count toward both high school and college graduation requirements.
RAHS is part of the Suburban East Conference. The Raiders’ Fight Song was written by Frank Bencriscutto and is an inverted version of Kellogg High School’s old fight song.
