Danieto
Danieto is the stage name of Daniel Nieto, a Chilean electronic musician, engineer and visual artist from Santiago. He makes music solo as Danieto and as part of the group Skipsapiens with Pier Bucci. He started in the late 1990s, inspired by the UK intelligent dance music scene, and helped found the netlabel Impar.
As ADN he released Granel in 2000 and the Hormiga EP, with tracks later appearing on the CODA compilations. In 2001 Skipsapiens released its self-titled album on the Belgian label U-Cover. A limited edition CD, Evolución al Origen, followed, containing seven tracks recorded between 1999 and 2003.
He did remixes for other artists, including Re'Processed – Interkontinentale Remixe in 2002 and a U-Cover remix project in 2002.
In 2004 he and Claudio Cisterna received government funding in Chile to start Impar, a netlabel that promotes experimental electronic music and offers free downloads. Through Impar, many of Danieto’s tracks are available online.
In 2005 he released Cirugía Casual on U-Cover and Skipsapiens-eco with Pier Bucci on Mutek. He also remixed Hans Carstens' "Compacto (pn003)" for Pueblo Nuevo, and performed in Mexico City, Montreal and Valparaíso.
In 2006 two new U-Cover albums appeared: Contemplación de la Vida Inerte, credited to Danieto + Flipper, and Multitono. He also released Agranelado for Pueblo Nuevo. Since then most of his albums have been released on Impar.
