Rohit Thakur
Rohit Thakur is an Indian politician from Himachal Pradesh and a member of the Indian National Congress. He represents the Jubbal-Kotkhai constituency in the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly and has been in office since 2021. He previously served as an MLA in 2003 and 2012 and was the Chief Parliamentary Secretary from May 2013 to December 2017.
Born on 14 August 1974 in Shimla, Rohit Thakur is the grandson of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Ram Lal. He earned a BA (Hons) in Political Science from Panjab University, Chandigarh, and works as a horticulturist. He is married to Pratibha Thakur, and they have one son and two daughters.
His political career began early with involvement in the Pradesh Youth Congress (2000–2004) and ongoing work with the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) from Jubbal-Kotkhai since 2002. He served as HPCC Secretary (2008–2011) and became a Co-opted AICC member in 2017.
As of January 2023, he is a Cabinet Minister in the Sukhu ministry, overseeing Higher Education and Elementary Education. He resides in Potta village, Dhar, Jubbal, Shimla district.
