Roberts Covered Bridge
Roberts Covered Bridge is a Burr Arch and Truss covered bridge in Preble County, Ohio, near Eaton. It was built in 1829 by Orlistus Roberts and Joseph Campbell to cross Sevenmile Creek about 2.5 miles south of Eaton. The bridge was restored in 1962 and repaired in 1974. After a fire in 1986 caused heavy damage, it was rebuilt and moved to a city park in Eaton in 1990, still crossing Sevenmile Creek. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP reference number 71000651) since September 3, 1971. The bridge is claimed to be the oldest covered bridge in Ohio, the second oldest in the United States, and the oldest of the six remaining double-barreled covered bridges in the country. Its current location is about 150 feet north of the St. Clair Street Bridge, and Roberts Covered Bridge is closed to traffic.
