Ayad Hamid Khalaf Al-Jumli, also known as Abu Yahya, is a senior Islamic State leader and a former intelligence official under Saddam Hussein. He was an intelligence officer in Fallujah before the U.S.-led invasion. After the invasion, he joined the Sunni insurgency and reported directly to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. He led Amniyat, ISIS’s intelligence and security unit in Iraq and Syria. On April 1, 2017, Iraqi officials said he and two other ISIS commanders were killed in an Iraqi airstrike near al-Qaim, describing him as ISIS’s second-in-command and a war minister, though the U.S.-led coalition could not confirm the death.
