Robert W. McNulty

Robert W. McNulty (1897–1966) was a leader in dental education. He served as president of the American Dental Education Association in 1960 (the role is now called Chairman of the Board of Directors). Born in Braidwood, Illinois, he earned a D.D.S. from Loyola University School of Dentistry in 1926. In the 1940s he was dean of Loyola’s dental school and president of the Illinois State Dental Society, and he became a well-known author and speaker on dental education. From 1950 to 1965 he was the dean of the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. USC named the Robert W. McNulty Memorial Award for Scholastic Achievement in his honor. Loyola University’s School of Dentistry inducted him into its Hall of Fame as the 11th member. He was a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and a member of the American Academy of Dental History.
