Robert F. Barabe
Robert F. Barabe (June 14, 1917 – January 15, 1971) was an American Democratic politician from Mellen, Wisconsin. He served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1959 to 1964 and was mayor of Mellen for two terms, 1955–1959 and 1969–1971. He also served as an alderman and on the Ashland County Board from 1947 to 1949.
Barabe was born in Mellen and attended the University of Wisconsin. He served in the United States Army during World War II as part of the 10th Armored Division (3rd Tank Battalion). He earned two Bronze Stars and later belonged to the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
A member of the Democratic Party, Barabe died of a heart attack while serving as mayor on January 15, 1971, in Mellen. His son, Joseph Barabe, later served as mayor of Mellen from 1987 to 2001 and again from 2003 to 2022.
