Rhododendron subg. Pentanthera

Rhododendron subg. Pentanthera was a former subgenus of the Rhododendron genus. Many azaleas come from this group, though azaleas are also found in other subgenera. It was part of the heath family, Ericaceae. In 2005, Pentanthera was discontinued, and its four sections were moved or split up into other groups. The subgenus previously included four sections.
