Resurrection is a 2022 American psychological thriller written and directed by Andrew Semans, starring Rebecca Hall, Grace Kaufman, Michael Esper, and Tim Roth. The story follows Margaret, a successful businesswoman and single mother in Albany, New York, who must fight to keep her life under control when her abusive ex-boyfriend returns.

The film gradually reveals Margaret’s painful past with David, a controlling former lover who demanded acts of self-harm as “kindness” in exchange for his love and who hurt Margaret and their son, Benjamin. As David insinuates himself back into Margaret’s life, she grows more isolated while trying to protect her daughter Abbie, who is headed off to college. The tension erupts into a violent confrontation between Margaret and David, with tragic consequences for both and a final scene that leaves Abbie departing for college as Margaret holds a newborn baby and a chilling sense of danger persists.
